Can I bring my small child?
Yes, you can. Please contact us, as we may be able to organize professional childcare if there is enough demand.
Do I need accomodation or can I commute to the conference from Vienna?
As Eisenstadt is only about an hour away from Vienna by train or car, commuting to the conference is definitely an option.
How much Python do I need to know to enjoy the conference?
None at all. You can even enjoy the conference if you have never programmed before.
I don’t speak any German, will that be a problem?
Not at all. The main language of PyCon Austria is English, even though there might be some talks and workshops held in German.
I have an idea for a talk, but I am too shy to speak in front of a large audience. What can I do?
You might feel more comfortable giving a lightning talk, which is a very short presentation. You could also organize a workshop or present your project at a table instead. Contact us, we’ll find a solution.
I heard that shops in Austria are closed on Sundays. Where will I get food on Sunday?
Shops will be closed on Sunday, but there will be a food truck at the venue. There’s also a McDonald’s nearby which will be open.

Yes, there is a large parking lot directly in front of the university building that you can use free of charge.

Where is Eisenstadt located?
Eisenstadt is located in the east of Austria, it’s the capital of the federal state of Burgenland. The city is around 50 kilometers from Vienna and can be reached in less than an hour by car or train.
Why Eisenstadt?
Most Austrian IT conferences take place in Vienna. For PyCon Austria, we wanted to take a new approach. With the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland, we found a great host that offers enough space for a large conference, away from the hustle and bustle of the capital, but is easily accessible from Vienna and neighboring countries.
